Can someone explain what "Oglethorpe, Atlanta, Georgia" means? Is Olgethorpe a school or a place? -- Zoe

Later Life

[edit]

Here it states that he died in the US, which I don't dispute. But I wonder if he is the "young Dr. Lanier of Baltimore" that Charles Wilbour writes about in January of 1881, in Egypt. He may have gone there to try to treat his tuberculosis? Wilbour talks about him as the "sick Boston Boy", but knows he's from Baltimore. Wondered if anyone had any thoughts. I might add this little bit in his later life. K8shep (talk) 12:15, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a obvious example of original research. Please do not add this personal speculation. --Midnightdreary (talk) 13:01, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Grandson

[edit]

In the early 1950s I was an evening student at Boston University and enrolled in a class in American poetry with what I remember as Sidney Lanier's grandson. Can anyone confirm this memory or lead me to a source that may give some information on this stern, perhaps over-worked professor? ---- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leov (talkcontribs) 18:58, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
