Prada's partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund should be add to this article. A percentage of their sales goes to benefit this organization. Cajoiner (talk) 19:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does Leo Prada photography out of Novato, California really have anything to do with the Prada fashion line? Methinks they are not related at all.

Puffy Jacket -- please don't delete information from the page without copying it to the talk page! I'm going to continue restoring lost information. If you believe the info is inaccurate or irrelevant please explain why here before deleting Tom 14:32, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Tom, I thought we were discussing this on our own talk pages, but since you crossposted here, why don't I copy my comment as well:
Hi, Tom!
The article was friSmall TextSmall Textghteningly like the text of a promotional folder of some kind. I feel that any claim that a specific handbag (and its price) was the genesis of the rise-and-rise is, at best, subjective- hence the deletion. Just my opinion, of course, and you've already done as you think best, so. :) --Puffy jacket 00:33, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I agree with the "promotional folder" description of the original -- I think the info I've put back (about e.g. the price and material of the handbag) is worthwhile, but perhaps we should keep editing this for tone to make it more like an encyclopedia and less like a promotion. I've made a few changes in this direction and welcome more. Tom 12:24, 25 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Hi all,

I agree with the "promotional folder" comments. I took the actual price out and just called the bags "high-priced," since that's the point anyway. I also took out at least 4-5 empty hyperlinks -- do we really need a separate entry on Mario Prada, whose only apparent relevance here is founding the company, or one on the "Miu Miu" line? Those are just a couple examples, but I just feel that too many links makes a page "busy."

Also, I was looking for some updated information about the company since 1993, which is the article's most recent reference. But prada.com appears to be a one-page placeholder site. Perhaps if anyone with more recent fashion history knowledge could fill in this info, it would really round the piece out.

--Dablaze 18:11, Jul 11, 2004 (UTC)

I've updated the information on the group as a luxury conglomerate by consolidating the information about the group's investment activities into a single section. Vincentanton 01:12, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the link to Manolo's Prada Blog. Unlike most of the blog links, it is a useful if eccentric source of information about Prada. Also, it's a popular link of long-standing duration. DelDav 16:25, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

"Prada has inspired poets, and one who has captured the quintessential Prada mood is Beatrice Lao" Not really a NPOV, no? Is a poetry section even really necessary? Any other poets? Any citations/evidence that this one was inspired by Prada? SIGURD42 16:55, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: really should be deleted.76.189.112.51 (talk) 00:41, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Prada

[edit]

why is there no wikipedia entry on Mario Prada? I came across the entry on Miuccia Prada while searching for Mario Prada. I was looking up answers for a quiz. I thought he would be there here perhaps...How come there is no article on him? Isn't he supposed to be famous? I don't know much about this, so please correct me if I'm wrong. :-) --anirudh 05:20, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I remind everyone of the following guidelines regarding external links to sites that you may control.

Links normally to be avoided:

[...]
3. A website that you own or maintain, even if the guidelines above imply that it should be linked to. This is because of neutrality and point-of-view concerns; neutrality is an important objective at Wikipedia, and a difficult one. If it is relevant and informative, mention it on the talk page and let other — neutral — Wikipedia editors decide whether to add the link.

4.Links that are added to promote a site, that primarily exist to sell products or services, with objectionable amounts of advertising, or that that require payment to view the relevant content. See External link spamming

Unfortunately, this article attracts spam links from people who aren't especially interested in the Wikipedia editing process, only in promoting their websites DelDav 03:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the references to "prada.us" which was nothing more than an Amazon referral link. CrazyLittle (talk) 05:08, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Prada.png

[edit]

Image:Prada.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Boston

[edit]

This page is citing a "Boston Epicenter" as the fourth flagship for Prada which needs to be verified. A bit of research on the web shows no references to an epicenter on any site other than Wikipedia. In fact there is no references at all about a Prada location in the Boston Mandarin Oriental. I have also commented on the Talk: Mandarin Oriental Page about the lack of verifiable information citing the Boston Mandarin Oriental.

The information about a "Boston Epicenter" should be removed unless it is verifiable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.40.228.224 (talk) 05:48, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed

[edit]

Based on the history of user http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:24.19.249.190 I've removed the "anticipated" Boston location until it can be verified. 69.40.228.224 (talk) 06:18, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Foundations Grammar Cleanup Needed

[edit]

The Foundations section has atrocious grammar and is awkwardly worded. Not dissing what's probably an ESL best-effort, but it really needs to be cleaned up. (Yes, "patches welcome", but IMO the extent of the rework makes having some knowledge of the subject preferable.)

[edit]

There are problems with noting pending legal suits in Wikipedia:

1) Large companies are very frequently sued. A comprehensive list of suits would run for pages, for some companies.

2) A pending legal suit doesn't mean anything has been done wrong at all. Wiki could be reporting a non-event.

3) In the meantime the reputation of the company is being slurred. If the case is thrown out, it means that Wikipedia, for a time, was implying false information. This is perhaps even legally actionable.

4) There's nothing necessarily notable about losing a legal suit. I was in a company that lost several 100,000 USD, not because the company as a whole was intentionally lying, as much as because I couldn't convince one stubborn marketing person to modify a couple Web pages they liked. How notable was that? Well, notable that a marketing type had a stranglehold on the marketing site. (But that wasn't what the legal suit was about!) That may not be a perfect example, but the point stands -- even a lost case isn't necessarily notable. A lavatory vendor wins a suit against Microsoft for a week's wages -- trivial, unencyclopedic.

5) By "kangaroo court" in my Edit Summary, I mean that it is not up to anonymous Wikipedia editors to debate the strengths and weaknesses of legal proceedings. This undermines legitimate legal authority and allows any editor, not speaking under oath (e.g., lying), to potentially influence the outcome of a court case. It is not WP:V.

Prada discrimination lawsuit

[edit]

This section seems POV written from the prospective of Rina Bovrisse, the plaintiff, who lost the legal proceedings. It is full of statements and claims that are not supported by the citations. It is too long; most of the material belongs in the main article Prada gender discrimination case.It is full of repetitive, WP:undue, and WP:trivia statements.
