Java

[edit]

Hi. Please disambiguate "Java" on your user page. For example, Java. Thanks. RedWolf 22:16, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)

The Müller-Fokker Effect

[edit]
  • You said the title was a parody of motherfucker. I've actually read this in a news article, so I'm not questioning you, but it doesn't actually look very much as though it's supposed to be 'motherfucker'. Maybe I'm pronouncing 'Müller' wrong. -Litefantastic 20:33, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • I don't know if you've read the book, but it's full of puns of the kind. It's not supposed to sound exactly like "motherfucker", just hint at the word. --Goblin 18:16, Nov 18, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Hi, I noticed you slapped this template on to a few Forgotten Realms articles in November, but recently removed it from at least one article (Lady of Pain). I personally think this template is useless and should be deleted. Please feel free to offer your thoughts in Template talk:Fictional Setting Taco Deposit | Talk-o to Taco 01:51, Feb 21, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I thought it'd be interesting to have it when I first saw it, but then came to the same conclusion as you. It's useless and only adds clutter. --Goblin talk 01:55, Feb 21, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I see that you made this template a long while ago. I am going to migrate all pages using it over to the more versatile Template:Succession box which was made to allow for multiple posts in the same box. I just wanted to inform you of my intentions. gren 05:29, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gormenghast

[edit]

I've been working on the Gormenghast article, and some related articles. I saw on your user page that its on your 'To Do' list, maybe you'd like to have a look? It's still nowhere near finished (is anything?), so please improve what I've done. Uberisaac 10:54, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I've been way too busy lately, but I'll have a look. --Goblin talk 14:08, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Rosicrucian article

[edit]

Dear user Goblin, as I have seen editions of yours at the article Rosicrucian, I come to request your support to this article that I have just purposed for nomination at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Rosicrucian. May you may give a look into it? And, if you consider it acceptable, then may you support it? Thank you! :) --GalaazV 02:49, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Portal de Portugal

[edit]

Gameiro 19:41, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Planescape-torment-box.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Planescape-torment-box.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 17:30, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

interested in the Portuguese-speaking world

[edit]

Hi. I'm Beth, known on Wikipedia as Learnportuguese. I am very interested in the Portuguese language and the Portuguese-speaking world. The whole concept of saudade is fascinating. If you want, chek out my user page and talk page and put a watch on both. I have very interesting discussions there. You are very welcome to contribute. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 15:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Call of cthulhu rpg 6th ed cover.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The article Shar (Forgotten Realms) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fictional character that fails WP:GNG, WP:NFICTION. Pure WP:PLOT. Could be soft deleted by redirecting to List of Forgotten Realms deities.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
