Wikipedia:Requested moves
This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators. This notice will be automatically removed by RMCD bot (talk) when the backlog is cleared. |
Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.
Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. See: § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are generally processed after seven days. If consensus to move the page is reached at or after this time, a reviewer will carry out the request. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved". When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time for consensus to develop, or the discussion may be closed as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.
When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, be bold and do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space to article space – Unconfirmed users: add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. See Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Confirmed users: Move the page yourself. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Splitting an article – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed article splits, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Al Baraka Banking Group → Al Baraka Group (currently a redirect instead to Dallah Al-Baraka) (move · discuss) – the official name of the company has changed. See albaraka.com MK8 (talk) 07:30, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- @MK8, do you have any modern sources using the new name? Per WP:NAMECHANGES we can give additional weight to reliable, independent sources which use the new name, unfortunately the main page itself can't be used for that (see WP:OFFICIALNAME as well). I tried Bing and Google news searches for "Al Baraka" but I'm getting mostly "Al Baraka Bank". Without adequate sources, this may have to either wait or be opened as a discussion. - Ebrahim Yazdan Panah → Ebrahim Yazdanpanah (currently a redirect back to Ebrahim Yazdan Panah) (move · discuss) – this is just one word, "panah" is a suffix, not a separate word. Sports2021 (talk) 20:53, 22 August 2024 (UTC)

- @Ainty Painty I brought it up because the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan article used to exist, but there was an unanswered talk page proposal by Kautilya3 at Talk:UN_mediation_of_the_Kashmir_dispute#Page_title to move it to UN mediation of the Kashmir dispute, where it has remained stable for 7 years. That's why United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan redirected to the "UN mediation" page until your recent change. The discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. A move is potentially controversial if either of the following applies:
- there has been any past debate about the best title for the page;
- someone could reasonably disagree with the move.
Use this process if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested. For technical move requests, such as to correct obvious typographical errors, see Requesting technical moves. The technical moves procedure can also be used for uncontroversial moves when the requested title is occupied by an existing article.
Do not create a new move request when one is already open on the same talk page. Instead, consider contributing to the open discussion if you would like to propose another alternative. Multiple closed move requests may be on the same page, but each should have a unique section heading.
Do not create a move request to rename one or more redirects. Redirects cannot be used as current titles in requested moves.
Requesting a single page move
To request a single page move, click on the "New section" (or "Add topic") tab of the talk page of the article you want moved, without adding a new subject/header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move|New name|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.}}
Replace New name
with the requested new name of the page (or with a simple question mark, if you want more than one possible new name to be considered). The template will automatically create the heading "Requested move 22 August 2024" and sign the post for you.
There is no need to edit the article in question. Once the above code is added to the Talk page, a bot will automatically add the following notification at the top of the affected page:
A request that this page title be changed is under discussion. Please do not move this page until the discussion is closed. |
Unlike other request processes on Wikipedia, such as Requests for comment, nominations need not be neutral. Make your point as best you can; use evidence (such as Google Ngrams and pageview statistics) and refer to applicable policies and guidelines, especially our article titling policy and the guideline on disambiguation and primary topics.
WikiProjects may subscribe to Article alerts to receive RM notifications. For example, Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Article alerts/Requested moves is transcluded to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography. RMCD bot notifies many of the other Wikiprojects listed on the talk page of the article to be moved to invite project members to participate in the RM discussion. Requesters should feel free to notify any other Wikiproject or noticeboard that might be interested in the move request, as long as this notification is neutral.
Single page move on a different talk page
Occasionally, a move request must be made on a talk page other than the talk page of the page to be moved. For example, a request to rename Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources to Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing and templates would need to take place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation because the talk page of the project page to be moved, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Resources, is a redirect to that centralized discussion page. In this type of case, the requested move should be made using the following code:
{{subst:requested move|reason=(the reason for the page move goes here).|current1=(present title of page to be renamed)|new1=(proposed title of page)}}
The |1=
unnamed parameter is not used. The |current1=
and |new1=
parameters are used similar to multiple page moves described below.
Requesting multiple page moves
A single template may be used to request multiple related moves. On one of the talk pages of the affected pages, create a request and format it as below. A sample request for three page moves is shown here (for two page moves, omit the lines for current3 and new3). For four page moves, add lines for current4 and new4, and so on. There is no technical limit on the number of multiple move requests, but before requesting very large multi-moves, consider whether a naming convention should be changed first. Discuss that change on the talk page for the naming convention, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (sportspeople).
To request a multiple page move, edit at the bottom of the talk page of the article you chose for your request, without adding a new header, inserting this code:
{{subst:requested move
| current1 = Current title of page 1
| new1 = New title for page 1 with the talk page hosting this discussion
| current2 = Current title of page 2
| new2 = New title for page 2
| current3 = Current title of page 3
| new3 = New title for page 3
| reason = Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.
}}
For example, to propose moving the articles Wikipedia
and Wiki
, put this template on Talk:Wikipedia
with current1
set to Wikipedia
and current2
set to Wiki
. The discussion for all affected articles is held on the talk page of the article where the template is placed (Talk:Wikipedia
). Do not sign the request with ~~~~
, since the template does this automatically (so if you sign it yourself there will be two copies of your signature at the end of the request). Do not skip pairs of numbers.
RMCD bot automatically places a notice section on the talk page of all pages that are included in your request except the one hosting the discussion, to call attention to the move discussion that is in progress and to suggest that all discussion for all of the pages included in the request should take place at that one hosting location.
For multi-move discussions hosted on a page which is itself proposed to be moved, it is not necessary to include the |current1=Current title of page 1
for the page hosting the discussion, as its current title can be inferred automatically. Occasionally the discussions for significant multi-move requests may be hosted on WikiProject talk pages or other pages in Project namespace, in which case it is necessary to include |current1=
to indicate the first article to be moved.
Request all associated moves explicitly
Please list every move that you wish to have made in your request. For example, if you wish to move Cricket (disambiguation) to Cricket because you do not believe the sport is the primary topic for the search term "Cricket", then you actually want to move two pages, both Cricket (disambiguation) and Cricket. Thus you must list proposed titles for each page affected by your request. For example, you might propose:
If a new title is not proposed for the sport, it is more difficult to achieve consensus for a new title for that article. A move request that does not show what to do with the material at its proposed target, such as:
is incomplete. Such requests may be completed as a request to decide the best new title by discussion.
- Cricket → ?
If a disambiguation page is in the way of a move, the request may be completed as proposing to add (disambiguation).

Commenting on a requested move
All editors are welcome to contribute to the discussion regarding a requested page move. There are a number of standards that Wikipedians should practice in such discussions:
- When editors recommend a course of action, they write Support or Oppose in bold text, which is done by surrounding the word with three single quotes on each side, e.g.
'''Support'''
. - Comments or recommendations are added on a new bulleted line (that is, starting with *) and signed by adding
~~~~
to the end. Responses to another editor are threaded and indented using multiple bullets. - The article itself should be reviewed before any recommendation is made; do not base recommendations solely on the information supplied by other editors. It may also help to look at the article's edit history. However, please read the earlier comments and recommendations, as well as prior move requests. They may contain relevant arguments and useful information.
- Vested interests in the article should be disclosed per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI.
When participating, please consider the following:
- Editors should make themselves familiar with the article titling policy at Wikipedia:Article titles.
- Other important guidelines that set forth community norms for article titles include Wikipedia:Disambiguation, specific naming conventions, and the manual of style.
- The debate is not a vote; please do not make recommendations that are not sustained by arguments.
- Explain how the proposed article title meets or contravenes policy and guidelines rather than merely stating that it does so.
- Nomination already implies that the nominator supports the name change, and nominators should refrain from repeating this recommendation on a separate bulleted line.[a]
- Do not make conflicting recommendations. If you change your mind, use strike-through to retract your previous statement by enclosing it between <s> and </s> after the bullets, and de-bold the struck words, as in "•
SupportOppose".
Please remember that reasonable editors will sometimes disagree, but that arguments based in policy, guidelines, and evidence have more weight than unsupported statements. When an editor offers an argument that does not explain how the move request is consistent with policies and guidelines, a reminder to engage in constructive, on-topic discussion may be useful. On the other hand, a pattern of responding to requests with groundless opinion, proof by assertion, and ignoring content guidelines may become disruptive. If a pattern of disruptive behavior persists after efforts are made to correct the situation through dialogue, please consider using a dispute resolution process.
Closing a requested move
Any uninvolved editor in good standing may close a move request. Please read the closing instructions for information on how to close a move request. The Simple guide to closing RM discussions details how to actually close a requested move discussion.
Relisting a requested move
Relisting a discussion moves the request out of the backlog up to the current day in order to encourage further input. The decision to relist a discussion is best left to uninvolved experienced editors upon considering, but declining, to close the discussion. In general, discussions should not be relisted more than once before properly closing.[b] Users relisting a debate which has already been relisted, or relisting a debate with a substantial discussion, should write a short explanation on why they did not consider the debate sufficient to close. While there is no consensus forbidding participation in a requested move discussion after relisting it, many editors consider it an inadvisable form of supervote. If you want to relist a discussion and then participate in it, be prepared to explain why you think it was appropriate.
Relisting should be done using {{subst:RM relist}}
, which automatically includes the relister's signature, and which must be placed at the very end of the initial request after the move requester's signature (and subsequent relisters' signatures).
When a relisted discussion reaches a resolution, it may be closed at any time according to the closing instructions; there is no required length of time to wait before closing a relisted discussion.
If discussion has become stale, or it seems that discussion would benefit from more input of editors versed in the subject area, consider more widely publicizing the discussion, such as by notifying WikiProjects of the discussion using the template {{RM notification}}. Banners placed at the top of the talk page hosting the move request can often be used to identify WikiProjects suitable for notification.
Notes
- ^ A nominator making a procedural nomination with which they may not agree is free to add a bulleted line explaining their actual position. Additional detail, such as sources, may also be provided in an additional bullet point if its inclusion in the nomination statement would make the statement unwieldy. Please remember that the entire nomination statement appears on the list on this page.
- ^ Despite this, discussions are occasionally relisted more than once.
- This section lists all requests filed or identified as potentially controversial which are currently under discussion.
Do not attempt to edit this list manually; a bot will automatically update the page soon after the {{subst:Requested move}} template is added to the discussion on the relevant talk page. The entry is removed automatically soon after the discussion is closed. To make a change to an entry, make the change on the linked talk page. |
This list is also available in a page-link-first format and in table format. 90 discussions have been relisted.
- (Discuss) – St Anne's Church, Liverpool (1772-1871) → St Anne's Church, Richmond – or St Anne's Church (Richmond). The date range is poorly formatted, unsourced, potentially incorrect, and inconsistent with the title convention of other churches listed at Church of St. Ann#United Kingdom. "St Anne's Church, Liverpool" is ambiguous. One cited source seems to have the most information. It seems there was an original church and then another that replaced it in 1871. "In 1865 the Liverpool Construction Act was passed on 26 May 1865. Under the terms of this act, St. Anne's Street was to be extended into Cazneau Street. To facilitate this, the Act provided for the demolition of St. Anne's Church but its terms prevented the Corporation from pulling down St. Anne's before erecting a new church. The Corporation duly built the new church of St. Anne's at the corner of St. Anne Street and Great Richmond Street and the consecration of the new building took place on 16th November 1871." The map location seems to be along what is currently known as St. Anne Street, near Richmond Row. Is this article intended to cover both buildings, or only the earlier one? It seems to be both, as none of the other articles I can find are about the newer one. The later church was closed a full century later, in 1971. The source mentioned above and another source identify the location as Richmond or Richmond Street. It refers to the church as "St. Anne's Richmond" and "St Anne (Richmond)". Another source leads to other related articles that say Dr. Richard Richmond was the name of a bishop (an unpopular one) there during 1773–80. - (Discuss) – Secretary General of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo → General Secretary of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo – When this article was first translated by Czar (talk · contribs) back in 2021, I initially didn't question the chosen title. In Spanish, the terms "secretary general" and "general secretary" are one and the same: "secretario general". I've also seen the term "secretary general" used in sources, so it wasn't much of an issue for me. But the longer time goes on, I'm starting to question whether "secretary general" is the common name over "general secretary". For one, our article on Secretary (title) lists the term "general secretary" as a position of authority in various organisations, including trade unions (which the CNT is); while "secretary-general" appears to be more widely used for official positions in intergovernmental organisations like the UN and ASEAN. In Google Scholar results: "general secretary of the CNT" receives 27 hits;[1] "secretary general of the CNT" receives 18 hits;[2] "CNT general secretary" receives 7 hits;[3] and "CNT secretary general" receives 7 hits;[4] "general secretary of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo" receives 1 hit;[5] "secretary general of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo" receives 0 hits.[6] As both are used in sources, I wanted to open a discussion about moving this. Per consistency, I'm inclined towards "general secretary", but I could really go either way. In any case, I think both need to be mentioned in the lead of the article, at least in an explanatory footnote, as they are clearly both used in sources. Grnrchst (talk) 15:35, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
My primary goal is to get rid of the strange combination of the dash followed immediately by a closing parenthesis, which is usually a date range but in this case is not. There are less than 30 titles like that on the English Wikipedia that I could find. Note that there's a duplication of the content of the end of this list in List of New Testament minuscules (2901–). There is also a duplicate of the content of the beginning of this list in List of New Testament minuscules (2001–2100). - (Discuss) – Capitanes de Ciudad de México → Mexico City Capitanes – "Mexico City Capitanes" is how the team is listed on the NBA G League website, in its "Teams," "Standings," "Schedule" pages et al. In addition, various articles on the team in the Associated Press, GQ magazine, Dallas Morning News, Slam magazine and Basketball-Reference.com list the team as the "Mexico City Capitanes," which is evidence towards that being its English COMMONNAME. There is a solid precedent in United States and Canadian sports teams using that naming convention for their English team articles; after all, the Montreal Canadiens are not listed as "Canadiens de Montréal," the Montreal Expos are not listed as "Expos de Montréal" and the Quebec Nordiques are not listed as "Nordiques de Québec". In fact, there's a stronger case that "Mexico City Capitanes" is this team's English common name than that Mexico City Arena is their home arena's English common name (many English speakers still refer to it as Arena CDMX or CDMX Arena)-but that's another discussion, and may be started another time. - (Discuss) – Tasziló Festetics → Tasziló Festetics (Hungarian noble, born 1850) – These people had the same name. We don't ordinarily use complete lifespans to disambiguate between people. I suspect the diacritic belongs to both as well, and the spelling variation of the given name as well. Currently, Tassilo Festetics de Tolna redirects to the one born in 1850! That one does get more pageviews, but his article's title doesn't include "de Tolna", so only a fraction of those people may be using the longer name to look for him. Perhaps "Hungarian" could be dropped, but with nobility it may be best to specify the country to identify the type of nobility. Well, we now have the latest Ngram data up to 2022 and shows that indeed this trend was confirmed and LGBTQ has squarely overtaken LGBT and furthermore, LGBT is on a now clear downwards trend since 2017. - (Discuss) – Crown corporations of Canada → Crown corporation – This content should be moved back to its original article, Crown corporation. The terminology is primarily, if not strictly used in a Canadian context to mean state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Given that the terminology is predominantly/strictly Canadian, "Crown corporation" on its own is precise enough (per WP:PRECISION). Given that the term is also strictly Canadian, one could also argue that the inclusion of "of Canada" in the title would contravene with WP:OVERPRECISION and WP:CONCISE (and given its sole Canadian use, redundant). Precision and concision are the reasons why other predominantly/strictly national-based terms for SOEs, like Crown entity for New Zealand, just serve as an article for New Zealand's experience with SOEs as opposed to redirecting to an article on the general concept of SOEs (currently what Crown corporation is now, a redirect to SOE, which, given its seemingly only Canadian use, a redirect to a article on he general concept and global use would also contravene with WP:PRECISION, as it would not be the expected article most people would expect when searching Crown corporation). Additionally, looking at the talk page and article history of Crown corporation, that article had originally held this content until it was moved without any basis in 2008 (the edit summary simply stated splitting Canadian content, which isn't really a reason at all). I'm assuming this was done based on the discussion that took place on that talk page in 2007 (Talk:Crown corporation#Canadianization), in which a discussion on the Canadianization of the article takes place. The conversation seemed to have occurred on the basis that the lead of the Crown corporation article in 2008 was structured in a manner that made it sound like the term was used throughout all the Commonwealth realms. However, at no point in that article's history, or in that talk page discussion, is any source of any kind provided to showcase the non-Canadian use of the term, which makes the entire argument of needing to "de-Canadize" the article without any basis, as its rationale is built on an erroneous assumption that the term is one with applications outside that country. However, Google yeilds no non-Canadian uses of the term. Other Commonwealth realm countries seemingly refer to their SOEs by different terms. As mentioned earlier, SOEs in New Zealand are Crown entities. Australia uses the term government business enterprise to describe their SOEs, and UK uses the term SOE. See, for example, a Google News search for intitle:yahoo -inurl:yahoo or a Google Ngrams search for Yahoo!, Yahoo. Similarly, Wikipedia prefers to drop stylizations and our title policy is not based on usage in the company's own publications (which do often drop the ! in text these days) but rather in independent sources. - (Discuss) – Qixi Festival → Double Seventh Festival – : 1. "Double Seventh Festival" would be consistent with the titles of pages on other Chinese festivals, such as Double Ninth Festival and Double Third Festival. : 2. "Double Seventh Festival" is culturally neutral. This festival is not specifically "Chinese", it is a general East Asian festival (see Tanabata and Chilseok). Additionally, the cultures do not coincide with modern nation-states, "Chinese culture" is not a single culture, and it should not be equated with the Northern Chinese (Mandarin-speaking) culture. : Of course, there are local traditions and regional differences, but the way it is celebrated among the Hokkien or Cantonese people is arguably as different from the traditions of Northern China as are Japanese and Korean ways of its celebration. Yet we don't have to split the topic even more into a Northern Chinese Qi Xi festival, Cantonese Tsat Tse Festival, Hokkien Chit Niu Ma Festival, etc. The "Double Seventh Festival" would be appropriate to cover all of the regional versions of this festival. While we are at it, Zhinü should also be moved to Weaver Girl, and Niulang to Cowherd (Chinese mythology). These characters (especially the weaver girl) also have different names even in Chinese characters, compare 織女 (Mandarin Zhīnǚ and Korean Jiknyeo), 七娘媽 (Hokkien Chhit-niû-má), 織姫 (Japanese Orihime), 七姐 (Cantonese Cat1 ze2). Currently, Orihime and Hikoboshi refer to those articles, and there are no articles on Jiknyeo and Gyeonwu. That would also be consistent with the article The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, which uses translated English names. QuestionableAnswers (talk) 11:17, 10 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – De La Salle Green Spikers volleyball → De La Salle Green Archers volleyball – The above existing pages have titles that do emulate the placement of a disambiguating sports descriptor after the team name, per WP:QUALIFIER. This style of adding descriptors has been prescribed by example by, among other similar college-sports WikiProjects, this page under WP:CBBALL and this page under WP:CFB for titles of pages about United States college teams. Clearly, these descriptors were prescribed in order to naturally disambiguate (by WP:NATURAL) a page about a team playing a certain sport from pages about namesake teams that are playing in other sports. In each of the team pages above being requested for moving, however, 1) the team name used is not that of its institution's team's uniform or collective name but the special nickname or unique moniker given to that specific team playing in its sport, so much so that the need for disambiguation disappears. 2) what is produced by the addition of a disambiguating sport descriptor after the team's special nickname is a redundancy. For example, there are no other De La Salle Green Spikers other than the De La Salle Green Archers team playing men's volleyball. For having a redundant title, the page's title then creates WP:OVERPRECISION and breaches the WP:CONCISE rule. That, however, can be salvaged by replacing the special moniker with the institution's team's uniform or collective name, a replacement which is what would have the need for disambiguation and erase the redundancy. - (Discuss) – Northern League (ice hockey, 2005–) → Northern League (ice hockey, 2005–present) – The current date range format for the first three of these hockey leagues doesn't seem to follow the usual Wikipedia convention. I found only 27 titles like this on the English Wikipedia. As for the fourth one, I found no indication that the older New Brunswick Junior Hockey League is a primary topic over the newer one, so I suggest disambiguation. Pageviews here. If we need to pick one of the two as primary, I suggest picking the new one. Some people looking for the new one are almost certainly landing on the article about the older one by accident. - (Discuss) – Bento → Bento box – We discussed this in Talk:Bento (disambiguation)#Requested move 9 August 2024 recently - it appears that in English-language usage, the phrase "bento box" is actually very popular in sources, and unambiguously identifies what seems to be more commonly known as just "bento" in Japanese usage. The term bento box already redirects here since forever, so this change would be more of a technicality, but I'm bringing it up for discussion because that would follow the previous process more properly. So, per WP:AT, this change would appear to improve recognizability, naturalness, precision. It would obviously reduce concision a bit, but it seems bearable. I'm not sure about consistency, what would be a comparable example - perhaps how we use take-out instead of to go? This move would facilitate a measurement related to the previous discussion - it appears that the term "Bento" (uppercase) is a fair bit historically and presently ambiguous, while "bento" (lowercase) is less so, but it's not clear to what extent this is so - if we complete this move, that would become easier to measure. - (Discuss) – Anarchism and naturism → Anarcho-naturism – A few days ago, @Czar performed a unilateral move of this page from "anarcho-naturism" to "anarchism and naturism", giving the edit summary
"no source visibly uses this hyphenation; is not the common name"
. (diff) This is not correct. It doesn't take long to find the use of the term "anarcho-naturism" in the sources cited in this article; within a minute I found its use in Kirwin Shaffer's book Anarchist Cuba, which is cited throughout this article. Furthermore, it does indeed appear that "anarcho-naturism" is the common name: Google Scholar results find 53 results for "anarcho-naturism";[9] compared with 11 for "anarchist naturism";[10] 6 for "libertarian naturism";[11] 2 for "naturist anarchism";[12] and only 4 for the new page name "anarchism and naturism".[13] This article certainly needs work to trim the less reliable sources and remove unverified information from it, but I don't think moving it to a different title and then leaving it as before is a good place to start. As I can't undo the request and I'm not sure this counts as an uncontroversial technical request, I'm requesting this article be moved back to "anarcho-naturism". By changing the name of the page to only include the team names, the scope of the article can better accommodate the new SF/Sacramento reality beginning next year. The Bay Bridge Series is now firmly in the past, but maybe the page move should be delayed until the two teams meet again (whether that be moving the page on the day of the next game of May 16, 2025 or before Spring Training 2025). - (Discuss) – Dasein → Dasein (Heideggerian term) – The topic of this article is Heidegger's use of "Dasein" as a technical term. This usage clearly meets WP:NOTABILITY. Historically, however, there has been considerable confusion over its scope that would expand it to cover any usage of this ordinary German word in a philosophical context. This violates WP:NOTADICTIONARY and would fail a WP:AfD. For examples of this confusion, see, for instance this post (
Regarding your point about the intention of the article, I feel like the author slips between explicating Dasein as a German word and a Heideggarian concept without drawing a distinction
) or this one immediately following it, both from 17 or more years ago. For a recent example, see this (very long) thread that is currently active. I introduced this proposal on the talk page yesterday with no clear consensus so far emerging either way. Please note that this is a request to both removal the italics currently on "Dasein" in order to accord with the practice of English translators and scholars, as well as adding the parenthetical to specify the topic in a way that will help to clarify it for readers and to prevent future confusion among editors. The William Francis Thompson who was born in 1810 was also a published poet, so William Thompson (poet) is arguably WP:incomplete disambiguation unless we assume consistency over whether "Francis" would always be included. There is also William Francis Kynaston Thompson, although his name seems to always include a "K." or "Kynaston". None of these three articles gets more than one page view per day (shown here), so it's hard to consider the 20th-century biologist really dominant over the 19th-century philologist. - (Discuss) – Mex → Mex (disambiguation) – The "Mex" title should redirect to the country Mexico, given the overwhelming common usage of "Mex" as an abbreviation for Mexico and the lack of usage of "Mex" for other topics. "Mex" is a well-known abbreviation for Mexico in contexts like international sporting events (e.g., FIFA, Olympic Games), airport codes (MEX for Mexico City International Airport), and by global media outlets. Commonly recognized abbreviations of countries or entities are redirected to the primary topic: USA redirects to the United States, UK redirects to the United Kingdom, and UAE redirects to the United Arab Emirates. Consistency in naming conventions makes it logical for "Mex" to redirect to Mexico, the most recognized association with the term. Other uses of "Mex" would still be accessible to users who need them. - (Discuss) – Attacks in Russia during the Russian invasion of Ukraine → Attacks in Russia during the Russo-Ukrainian War (2022–present) – The present title is semantically confused, and fails WP:PRECISE, WP:CONCISE and WP:NATURALNESS. The attacks listed in this article are logically part of the 'Russo-Ukrainian War', not the 'Russian invasion of Ukraine', as they were neither carried out by Russia nor occurred in Ukraine. My presumption is that the current title is some kind of WP:NATURAL disambiguation, to ensure that the scope of this article is limited to 2022 and beyond. This is necessary because of the existence of articles like Shelling of Donetsk, Rostov Oblast, that date back to 2014. Therefore, I propose Attacks in Russia during the Russo-Ukrainian War (2022–present), using a title that actually makes sense combined with parenethical disambiguation. Another possibility is expanding the scope of the article to the full extent of the war from its start in 2014, and renaming it Attacks in Russia during the Russo-Ukrainian War. I see both as acceptable options, and a great improvement on the present muddle. RGloucester — ☎ 11:50, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Etisalat by e& → e& – It seems like most sources refer to the company as e&, and that's what they seem to call themselves as well. Sources: Hollywood Reporter, Reuters, Fast Company, Bloomberg, etc. Alternatively, I would also support a move to Etisalat, if that's preferable formatting, because I think there is evidence that many sources use that as well (the companies former name): Light Reading, Developing Telecomes (maybe not independent), Tech in Africa, WSJ (2015 reference), NYT (2012), Computer Weekly, etc. Regardless of the option, the current title does not seem widely used or like the primary search keyword that would be used. It should be noted that we already use the "e&" formatting in other articles, see E& Egypt. Bestagon ⬡ 02:30, 12 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 05:12, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Kökbayraq → Flag of East Turkestan – My expansion of this article has changed the scope from just the Kök Bayraq to all flags used to represent the cultural and geographical region of East Turkestan. I think a move to Flag of East Turkestan would be appropriate to reflect this change. It is also worth noting that I did not include flags used by the Chinese state because the scope is not "all flags used in the region described as East Turkestan or Xinjiang" but rather "all flags that have been used to explicitly represent a region called East Turkestan, specifically" (hence Flag of East Turkestan). - (Discuss) – Albrecht von Bernstorff → Albrecht von Bernstorff (Prussian diplomat, born 1809) – or the second one could be moved to Albrecht Graf von Bernstorff (German resistor). Both of these people were named Albrecht Graf von Bernstorff. That name redirects to Albrecht von Bernstorff, but the article about Albrecht Graf von Bernstorff (1890-1945) is actually about twice as popular with Wikipedia readers (pageviews here). Wikipedia doesn't ordinarily use lifespan ranges for disambiguation of people. Both of them were Prussian diplomats. I suspect the one born in 1890 is more notable for his resistance to Nazi Germany than for his service as a diplomat. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:46, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Tommy Robinson → Tommy Robinson (disambiguation) – This Tommy Robinson, is, I think, the WP:PTOPIC for the title. Tommy F. Robinson is disambiguated by his middle initial and Tommy Robinson (hooligan) redirects to a section of a different article, so the main "competition" for primary topic is Tommy Robinson (footballer), who seems to have done reasonably well in the early 20th century. However, Tommy Robinson (activist) is the WP:PTOPIC. As a high-profile criminal and fascist politician and activist, who has been accused of inciting the 2024 riots, he is a major (and controversial) UK political figure. He has more long-term notability than the footballer. Even in 2015, the pageviews of this article were a hundred times higher than that of the footballer; this year the article has a daily average of 6563 views, compared to the footballer's average of just four. I believe the people responsible for the translation of Ukrainian to English may not be fully aware of the differences between the two varieties, as they frequently confuse them. - (Discuss) – Republic of Ireland → Ireland – This is technically a request for two moves: Republic of Ireland to Ireland and merging the current Ireland article into Geography of Ireland (or temporarily moving it to Ireland (island)). I'm uncertain if this discussion would be better suited to a broader project talk page, which is why I'm making this proposal here. I am aware of the discussion, that decided to leave the articles on their current titles, but that was simply 15 years ago and there are good reasons for both moving and keeping. However, from what I can see, the reasons to move both articles seem to be predominant. Given the frequency of discussions, it is clear that many editors have made significant efforts on various talk pages to move this article, challenging the incorrect assumption by some editors that there is no reason to believe consensus could have changed over the past decade and a half. "Republic of Ireland" is neither an official term nor is it common, except in Ireland itself and parts of the UK, thus eliminating it as an option. According to the UN. the official English name of the country is, as pointed out by other editors, simply "Ireland". On Wikipedia, we either use the short forms for countries (United Kingdom, Mexico, Russia, or Brazil) or we use the official name if it is already a single and concise term (Canada, Belize, Japan, Hungary). It is clear that this situation falls into the latter category, which also aligns with WP:CONCISE. To avoid the use of parentheses, as seen in Georgia (country), we need to move the article about the island. Taking a glimpse at other island countries like Taiwan or Cyprus, which also occupy their respective short forms, it appears that "Geography of ..." is the established form to describe the underlying island on which the country is located (Geography of Taiwan, Geography of Cyprus). Since Ireland redundantly addresses the politics of its constituent countries—topics that are already covered in their respective articles—I suggest merging it with Geography of Ireland by removing all sections that go beyond the island of Ireland as their subject matter and incorporating all remaining subtopics, such as geological history, into the article Geography of Ireland. Any disambiguation pages don't have to be changed. –Tobias (talk) 13:01, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Yaoi → Boys' love – It's been four years since the last requested move, and judging by the above discussion from last year, it does seem that consensus is now in favour of Boys' love for the overall topic. This is supported by recent scholarship, which predominantly uses boys' love (or some other variation on punctuation), especially in the context of the genre's international reach as opposed to its manga origins.[20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28] While BL is also commonly used in general parlance (and might be more common), it is ambiguous and not recognisable enough without context. There's room for further reorganisation of the content to have Yaoi as a subarticle focusing on the genre's manga origins, as suggested in the above section, but that is a separate matter. - (Discuss) – Child pornography → Child sexual abuse material – While "child pornography" has been generally accepted as the WP:COMMONNAME for this topic, the article title policy is clear that that is not the only thing we must consider, and that article titles must also be neutral. I think there is also an argument that the common name has shifted in more recent times, with news outlets, academia, government agencies, and NGOs increasingly shifting to use "CSAM" (and similar terms). As is outlined in Child pornography#Terminology and definitions, there has been a broad shift towards using "child sexual abuse material" (or similar terms) as the more neutral term that avoids the inaccurate description of abusive material as consensual pornography. This usage is supported by experts and academics as well as industry/law enforcement organizations including NCMEC (ex) and the US Department of Justice (ex) in the US, the UK Home Office (ex) in the UK, etc. Per the DOJ:
While this phrase still appears in federal law, “child sexual abuse material” is preferred, as it better reflects the abuse that is depicted in the images and videos and the resulting trauma to the child. In fact, in 2016, an international working group, comprising a collection of countries and international organizations working to combat child exploitation, formally recognized “child sexual abuse material” as the preferred term.
In contrast, "agatized dinosaur bone" is used in dozens of books (mostly scholarly books and governmental- or museum- reports), and half a dozen academic papers, going back decades before Wikipedia existed; it appears to be the common, natural and recognizable title. - (Discuss) – Killing of Hae Min Lee → Murder of Hae Min Lee – I'm aware that this has been discussed before, and that the consensus was not to move the page. However, there is an argument for restoring the previous title that was not considered during the previous RM.
WP:CONSISTENT states:To the extent that it is practical, titles should be consistent among articles covering similar topics
. In this case, multiple other pages on similar topics (i.e. cases in which a murder conviction was obtained but overturned and no other perpetrator was brought to justice) use the prefix "Murder of..." rather than "Killing of...". These include Murder of Maxwell Confait, Murder of Wendy Sewell, Murder of Alison Shaughnessy, Murder of Keith Blakelock, Murder of Marie Wilks, and Murder of Linda Cook. Like in these cases, Adnan Syed's conviction has been vacated (albeit this is being reviewed) and nobody else has been found guilty of killing Hae Min Lee, so the title should be changed to be consistent with the other articles. An argument was made by @Tamzin: thatThere is no way to call this the "Murder of Hae Min Lee" without risking the implication that Syed's murder conviction remains valid
, but as it is widely known that his conviction is not in fact valid (indeed, this is likely the reason most people have heard of the case) I don't agree that this is the case. Nobody is going to read the word "murder" in the title and construe it as a proclamation that Adnan Syed is and remains her murderer for all time: the only thing people will take away from it is that she was murdered. - (Discuss) – Lady Henry Somerset → Lady Isabella Somerset – As mentioned in the article, this person "won the court case in 1878 and resumed the style of Lady Isabella Somerset", and after 1878 she used "Lady Isabella Somerset" as her official style. Because of this name change, the article title of this person in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography is "Somerset [née Somers-Cocks], Lady Isabella Caroline [Lady Henry Somerset]", and the ODNB calls her "Lady Isabella" in the article. The British Museum also registers her as "Lady Isabella Somerset". There is also an academic article which calls her "Lady Isabella Somerset". According to Wikipedia:Article_titles#Name_changes, "When this [a change of name] occurs, we give extra weight to independent, reliable, English-language sources ("reliable sources" for short) written after the name change". Since this person is called "Lady Isabella Somerset" in recent reliable sources, the name of the article should be "Lady Isabella Somerset". - (Discuss) – Aegukka → National Anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea – After the DPRK's abandonment of unification, the title Aegukka seems to have fallen out of use at least on KCTV (first on the Hwasŏng Area completion event, and now the July 27 "victory" celebration), and Korean: 조선민주주의인민공화국 국가, lit. 'National Anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea' has taken its place. On the other hand, the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, as well as the current constitution, still mentions that the national anthem is titled "애국가". Another reason of my proposal is due to the current title's possible confusion with the ROK's Aegukga, where currently neither title has a modifier, which may cause confusion to readers not familiar to the two romanization systems. - (Discuss) – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport → Mumbai International Airport – The current title is an extremely long and an uncommon title violating WP:COMMONNAME, WP:CONCISION and WP:NATURALNESS. Wikipedia requires that the official name should not be used (unless it fulfills the criterion at WP:Article titles). If we were to see the usage in news media, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport" gives only 300 hits, "Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport" also gives only 300 hits, while "Mumbai International Airport" gives 10,100 hits and "Mumbai Airport" gives 21,100 hits, showing the prevalence of "Mumbai International Airport" and "Mumbai Airport" in news media, and it thus fulfilling the criterion at WP:COMMONNAME. Besides the current name doesn't even show up in ngrams because of its extremely low usage in published sources. "Mumbai International Airport" is much more natural and recognisable to an average reader, and more readers are likely to search for it. Mumbai Airport is good enough too. - (Discuss) – Israel–Hamas war → Israel–Gaza war – Despite the move request to Israel-Gaza war being closed as no consensus in February 2024, a lot has changed since then and RS have converged to use this name. This move is long overdue and aligns with the relevant Wikipedia guidelines of WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NAMECHANGE. RS per WP that uses the Israel-Gaza war name as the title of their coverage category: * The Guardian:
Israel-Gaza war
* The Washington Post:Israel-Gaza war
* BBC:Israel-Gaza war
* NPR:Israel-Gaza war
* The Conservation:Israel-Gaza war
* Al Jazeera:Israel's war on Gaza
Other RS that uses the Israel-Gaza war name as the title of their coverage category: * Doctors Without Borders:Israel-Gaza war
* Committee to Protect Journalists:Israel-Gaza conflict
* The National:Israel-Gaza war
* Middle East Eye:Israel's war on Gaza
RS per WP that uses the Israel-Gaza war in their coverage: * Reuters: [30], [31], [32]:Israel-Gaza war
* CBS news: [33]Israel-Gaza war
* Vox: [34], [35]:Israel's war in Gaza
This name change would also align with a third Wikipedia guideline, all five of the WP:CRITERIA one, namely #5 on Consistency, as this would align with Gaza War (2008–2009) and 2014 Gaza war. Makeandtoss (talk) 10:05, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Palestinian territories → Occupied Palestinian Territory – This terminology has become standard across all official sources, the United Nations, itself and in its resolutions, and at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in 2004 and reaffirmed in 2024, the EU and in many secondary sources. The ICJ concluded that the West Bank and Gaza are a single territorial unit: However, the Court recalls that, from a legal standpoint, the Occupied Palestinian Territory constitutes a single territorial unit, the unity, contiguity and integrity of which is to be preserved and respected. Thus, all references in this Opinion to the Occupied Palestinian Territory are references to this single territorial unit. Although still used in sources, and should remain as an aka, the existing title is currently an anachronism. Note that the OPT is also equivalent geographically to the area claimed by the State of Palestine. Selfstudier (talk) 10:17, 5 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Frost 16:15, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Al-Tabaeen school attack → Al-Tabaeen school massacre – The flowchart on WP:DEATHS makes it clear that as the people are dead -> because of homicide -> not capital punishment -> nobody is convicted, we could go with "Al-Tabaeen school killings", but given the number of people who were killed, I believe massacre is, sadly, appropriate. Foreign ministries across the Arab world have also considered it a massacre, and we refer to other such tragic events - of varying scales - as a massacre (i.e. Bucha massacre, Hoddle Street massacre, Samashki massacre, etc.), so I believe this change is appropriate considering the scale of the incident and the number of dead and wounded as reported by RS within the article. - (Discuss) – Midland Mainline → Midland Mainline (train operating company) – The last time I requested this, I got the disambiguator tag wrong ('company' rather than 'train operating company'). Since its been a few months, and I am moving this to a different name this time, it should be acceptable (as in, not disruptive) to revisit it again. But anyway, similar to my previous rationale, the Midland Mainline TOC is long gone, and almost everyone searching for this is looking for the mainline, so I propose moving Midland Mainline to Midland Mainline (train operating company) then redirecting Midland Mainline to Midland Main Line. Even Google comes up with Midland Mainline first. I do get WP:SMALLDETAILS but I don't think it applies here since the primary topic is probably the mainline over the TOC. - (Discuss) – Ascalon → Ashkelon (ancient city) – Recently, the name of this article was changed from Tel Ashkelon to Ascalon. The rationale was that Ashkelon and Tel Ashkelon are too similar, and that readers cannot be expected to differentiate. It was said that Ascalon is the name of the historical site. This rationale is invalid. The name Ashkelon, is the conventionally accepted name for both the modern city, and the ancient site. In many cases, the name Ashkelon is even used when referring to periods in which it was historically known as Ascalon. This place has at least 20,000 years of history, accros many periods of times. It was a prehistoric site, a Canaanite, Philistine, Hellenistic city, a Crusader city, an Islamic city... We don't always know its actual name, and it has never had a single way to pronounce its name. I am suggesting to change the name to Ashkelon (ancient city). I divided my argument into three parts: (1) Ashkelon and Ascalon are virtually the same and therefore confusing; (2) The toponym for the ancient site is known in maps and sites as "Ashkelon"; (3) the conentional scholarly name for the city in all periods is "Ashkelon", including periods in which it was called in different names. 1. Ascalon and Ashkelon are virtually the same. It is very confusing still. Differetiating them with "ancient city" in brackets makes no mistakes. Another option would've been "Tel Ashkelon", but there were times in which the ancient settlements in Ashkelon were not exactly on the Tel, and the city often controlled a much broader territory. Tel Ashkelon would strictly refer to the antiquties, but the article's scope goes beyond it. Another opition I thought about was "History of Ashkelon", simmilar to how we have "History of Athens", but I think that this might confuse the people who are looking for the history of modern Ashkelon, whose place should be in the article about the modern city. Therefore, I think that Ashkelon (ancient city) is the clearest option for the scope of the article. 2. Location identification: Today, the principal site of ancient Ashkelon is known as Tel Ashkelon. This is a declared national park in Israel, and it apears by that name. The official name of the park is "Ashkelon National Park". I think it makes a lot of sense to assume, that many people who visit Israel as tourist, will likely enter this Wikipedia article. They will not be referred to Ascalon, but to Ashkelon, either Tel Ashkelon (mentioned here, here, here and [36], which were the first results I was given by google. Therefore, the site, as a location, is better identified with Ashkelon rather than Ascalon Bolter21 (talk to me) 11:03, 20 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ToadetteEdit (talk) 18:04, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Lille OSC → LOSC Lille – The current title is wrong in both WP:COMMONNAME and WP:OFFICIALNAME. Firstly, the club's official name is not "Lille Olympique Sporting Club"-- that's what it used to be. Today, the club's entire official name is "LOSC Lille". "Lille OSC", the current title, is used by nobody both in common and official usage. In media, the club is often referred to as "Lille", "LOSC", and often times as "LOSC Lille". We could move the title to just "LOSC", but since the English-language "short" name for usage in articles is just "Lille", this wouldn't really work smoothly. I say we should go by the club's actual name in this specific case, which is also really commonly used in sources, only third to Lille and LOSC (which I don't believe are valid titles.) - (Discuss) – Palestinian genocide accusation → Palestinian genocide – Given the movement of Gaza genocide to that title, the current title here has become incongruously inconsistent. How can the parent of a child topic that is not couched in the language of "accusation" be couched in that language? It should be obvious than it should not. More generally, it has become apparent that the language of "accusation" is generally inappropriate. This is not only per MOS:ACCUSED (which outlines how the language of accusation is problematic in its presumptive deployment of doubt (presumably ultimately as a corollary of WP:NPOV)), but also per consistency with similar titles on similar subjects. There are many pages on the topics of presumed or suspected (but not legally ruled on) genocides -- this is in fact the majority of them -- but no other genocide topic on Wikipedia, regardless of how speculative it is, is couched as a "genocide accusation". See the search results. Likewise, the phrase "Palestinian genocide accusation" is all but unknown to scholarship, in stark contrast to "Palestinian genocide", which is a common and widely used phrase, including in titular form, such as in the 2013 The Palestinian Genocide by Israel by the eminent Francis Boyle. In the previous move discussion, I somewhat rallied support around the current title, but that was in October last year, before much of the subsequent discussion around developments in Gaza. It seemed sensible at the time, but that was then, and this is now. Events have moved on significantly since then, not least with the ICJ case and provisional measures -- and hence the Gaza genocide move. As this page covers the overarching legal and scholarly topic of Palestinian genocide, the weight of both everything that went into the Gaza genocide RM discussion, and everything that precedes it in Palestinian history, including the Nakba and all subsequent Israeli policies and actions that have been discussed as conceivably genocidal by legal and academic experts, is under consideration. Given that this page has a significantly grander scope than its child, its title cannot reasonably contain greater doubt than that of its child. Never the less, this anthology series had its first installment released as (formally) Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (commonly Tales of the Jedi) in October 2022, with it announced in April 2023 that it would get a second season (wording used by media outlets, though the quote from Filoni was "Tales of the Jedi was so fun the first time, I decided to do some more.") Subsequently, it was announced a year later in April 2024 that this second "season" was a new "installment", Star Wars: Tales of the Empire (commonly Tales of the Empire). This press release shows the use of both formal names as well as the key quote in my view (and the determination of the previous consensus) that Tales of the Empire was
the second installment of the "Tales" series
. Thus, an appropriate name to address this anthology series considering the formal name would be Star Wars: Tales, which provides a WP:NATURAL name. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:25, 2 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – Bolognese School → Bolognese school – Schools of art, schools of thought, etc., are usually rendered in sources with lowercase school. We should fix, consistent with WP:NCCAPS and MOS:CAPS. This is a logical extension of the consensus at Talk:Cretan School#Requested move 25 April 2024, but I thought I'd do another discussion just in case. And for the Cuzco school, restore the common spelling. (These are all found at Template:Western art movements, and there may be others there that I've missed.) - (Discuss) – All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment → All-purpose lightweight individual carrying equipment – These military equipment designators are often capped in official lists, but also often lowercase in sentences in both official and "independent" publications, so per MOS:CAPS and WP:NCCAPS we should default to lowercase, in titles and in article text (except Interceptor should be capped even mid-sentence, as that's the proper name of the armor system, not a descriptive term). I had moved them already, thinking they'd be uncontroversial in light of a bunch of previous military equipment designation RMs, but these were objected to and reverted, so let's discuss. - (Discuss) – House demolition → House demolition (military) – The primary topic for demolishing houses would be demolition. The military use of house demolition is not the obvious primary topic and should be disambiguated. I would also not be opposed to (militiary tactic), but it doesn't seem like other articles use it. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 11:16, 13 July 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. BilledMammal (talk) 05:28, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
- (Discuss) – Arab citizens of Israel → Palestinian and Arab citizens of Israel – Per the smart suggestion from Keizers in the discussion above, this middle ground should address the concerns of both sides. Many editors have put a lot of time into this debate over many years, so we would ask you not to vote until you have reviewed the following discussions: * Talk:Arab citizens of Israel/Archive 8#Requested move 27 October 2021 * Talk:Palestinian citizens of Israel#Requested move 26 November 2021 * Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Palestinian citizens of Israel (6 March 2024, proposed by Keizers) * Talk:Arab citizens of Israel#Requested move 21 March 2024 Onceinawhile (talk) 14:28, 16 April 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - (Discuss) – 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel → 7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel – I believe that enough time has passed since the last RM (which proposed the simpler "7 October attacks" name and closed with consensus to retain the current title) to re-propose a title change for this article. I believe that "7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel" is the WP:COMMONNAME for this event, as seen in sources such as: * Al Jazeera: "... counter the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, which saw ..." * Bloomberg: "... trapped in Gaza since the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, which prompted ..." * CBC: "... around the world since the Hamas-led attacks on Israel of Oct. 7 but are now ..." * CNN: "... from the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel being held ..." * Euracitiv: "... triggered by the 7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel in which ..." * France24: "Before the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel that triggered ..." * ISW: "... spokesperson claimed that the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel was retaliation ..." * Middle East Eye: "Following the 7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel and subsequent ..." * NPR: "... Palestinian armed groups since the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel that set off the war ..." * NYTimes: "... including some who participated in the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, and that ..." * Reuters: "... were involved in the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel that precipitated ..." * Times of Israel: "... during and after the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel." * The Conversation: "... participated in the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, which resulted ... " * WaPo: "Since the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, restrictions have ..." Many sources simply say "7 October" or "October 7 attacks" instead of spelling out the full name, but I believe that while "7 October attacks" could be a more COMMON name, I think that it fails WP:AT#Precision in favor of "7 October Hamas-led attack on Israel."
