Cleanup

[edit]
  1. Need to get rid of latin abbreviation c.f. because it is not common enough usage (latin confer meaning 'compare').
  2. The list of example by various people needs to be neatened in addition to removing the c.f.
  3. There are too many red links on this page in my opinion (although that may be an aesthetic opinion).
  4. etc?

Additions

[edit]
  1. Do we have pictures of the items listed as examples? Would the pictures help show what blobjects have in common?

Metaphysical term

[edit]

I've never encountered this term except in recent philosophical writing, where it refers to the universe as a whole. (I believe it was coined by Ted Sider.) Obviously a very different sense of the word; maybe there should be a disambiguation? I don't really have the time or the know-how to add one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WadeMcR (talkcontribs) 20:34, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I think it was in "Austere realism: contextual semantics meets minimal ontology" by Terry Horgan, Matjaž Potrč. Be that as it may, I too was surprised (appalled, horrified) to find this given as the primary meaning of the term. At least a disambiguation page is needed, once there's an article (or we can locate a section of a relevant article) discussing the (to my mind correct, but that's my POV) meaning of the term.
