Does anyone have any more info on Wilhelm? He was obviously a remarkable man. A close friend of Jung's and someone who was clearly very in with Chinese Esoteric circles despite being a devout Western Christian. This guy helped open up Chinese Mystical Culture to us - The I Ching, the Tao Te Ching & The Secret Of The Golden Flower - and yet he gets barely a few lines here! The very fact that he was allowed to get hold of a copy of the Golden Flower is worth talking about. Surely someone knows something about him! ThePeg 20:34, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Carl Jung included a chapter on Wilhelm in Memories,_Dreams,_Reflections. Some of it may be useful. Rgdboer (talk) 05:42, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Chinese teacher

[edit]

Richard Wilhelm's education in China consistently credits Xuan, but variously as Lau Nui Suan, Lao Nai-hsuan, and Lao Naixuan. His years are given as 1843 to 1921 in Wilhelm's article in the German WP. As this teacher provided through Wilhelm a bridge between cultures, more detail of his life would be appreciated. This article is cited by M Lakner (1999), view through JSTOR. Rgdboer (talk) 03:48, 19 January 2022 (UTC) The article is by a professor at Southern_Illinois_University_Carbondale and not Wilhelm's teacher. Rgdboer (talk) 05:01, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
