Need accurate birth date, as the article originally gave 1909 as birth year, but riverwalk.org link (see external link on page) give 1916. Anyone know? Gwimpey 07:15, Oct 31, 2004 (UTC)

The media here in KC said on the day he died that no one knows for sure what his exact birthdate was, but that he was thought to be about 90, which fits the 1916 theory. The Monster 14:52, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The film, "The Last Of The Blue Devils" should be added in a filmography section

[edit]

Count Basie, Joe Turner, Jay McShann, and others played together in 1974 at the Mutual Musicians Foundation in Kansas City. This was documented in a film entitled "The Last Of The Blue Devils". The filmographies for all involved should be updated to include this important work:

Please confirm line-up...

[edit]

OK, so there were two guys named Anderson? One, Bernard Anderson, a trumpeter, and the other, Lawrence Anderson (musician), trombonist, with no Wikipedia article. Coincidence? Brothers? Please confirm. Cheers!--Technopat (talk) 23:03, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Went blind when?

[edit]

I know that McShann was blind and still playing at eighty five years old, but I can't find any RS to confirm that. Part of the problem may be that he was associated with many blind musicians in person and in print. Al Hibbler worked for him. He may have been billed with the Blind Boys of Alabama, Blind Willie Tell, Art Tatum, so searches may be lost because the searches are confounded by those associations.
