Sami?[edit]

He is listed as a Sami artist. While his parents are from Finnmark, I have never read about any Sami ancestry, and it's not linked if so. Vaaktaar is from the farm Voktor in Kvæfjord, there are old Sami farms in Kvæfjord but Voktor is not one of them. Gamst is an old Norwegian prestige surname from the 15th century priest Torben Reiersen Gamst which is widespread in Troms and Finnmark. Probably everyone with more than 400 years of ancestors in Finnmark have Sami ancestors too, including modern Gamsts, but unless Paal identifies as such himself I don't think he should be labeled a Sami artist. 2001:4647:33C6:0:D33B:22E1:7C7:C357 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 08:14, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Of the four commonly-seen and periodically rediscussed spellings - Paul, Paal, Pal, Pål - attributed to this artist's first name, only this one, Pal, is misspelled. Transliterated, Pål becomes Paal. In the meantime, credits have been listing him as Paul for years. Elsewhere it can be found in a great many varieties.
