Please change the title

[edit]

I believe the song has no specific official title.

Its title in Burmese is "Naing Gan Daw Thi Chin" - just meaning "National Anthem".

However, the title "Gba Majay Bma" is strange in Burmese ears. It should be "Gba Majay Bma Pyay" or just "Gba Majay".

Because "Bma" serves as an adjective in this case, saying "Gba Majay Bma" will be just like saying "We love German" instead of "We love Germany".

Yes, there's no official title for the national anthem of Myanmar. The name "Gba Majay Bma" is spelt incorrectly. It should be spelt "Kaba Makyei" or "Kaba Makyei Bamapyi", although kaba (which translates as world), rather than gaba is more preferred, despite the shift in pronounciation from k to g. j in Burmese is spelt ch or ky in English (depending on the spelling in Burmese). ကမ္ဘာမက္ယေ - Gaba Makyei in Burmese. It doesn't work in Mozilla Firefox and requires font tags in IE. Hintha 23:18, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
