Were any of these acts described as terrorism at the time?

Or are we redefining acts under our present lens?

Assassinations of heads of state aren't generally acts of terrorism. They're not intended to incite fear in the civilian population, but to destabilize/end the state. They're often revolutionary acts.

This article smacks of historical revisionism. --The Cunctator 14:42, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

i don't know about this one...

[edit]

I agree with The Cunctator. not only does it smack of revisionism, but i find the entire concept of the article biased. if we are going to have an "anarchist terrorism" article, then we certainly should have a "capitalist terrorism" article. Besides, look at Anarchism. the content of Anarchist terrorism is completely covered under the "Violence and non-violence" section.

originally, i moved to have the article deleted, but maybe we can have some dialogue about it first.--Something 18:41, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

On second thought, I think this article should just be merged with Anarchism, as all of the topics here are also covered in the main Anarchism entry. --Something 18:54, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I agree, generally, but we should be careful not to whitewash history...I mean, I think anarchists have committed acts that could be described as terrorism. But also, the assassination of a tyrant is hardly terrorism. I don't see any mention of acts that I might consider terrorism, like a few instances of spanish anarchists killing priests (many more instances of this were REPORTED that actually OCCURRED, but i'm sure it happened occassionally) --Tothebarricades.tk 19:03, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Merge it. The legitimate denomination is propaganda of the deed. "Anarchist terrorism" falls under Wikipedia:No original research. Tazmaniacs 16:55, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christian terrorism, islamic terrorism but why no anarchist terrorism

[edit]

Anarchists are basically the inventors of modern terrorism. They deserve there own page on the subject. Capitalist terrorists? Which capitalist blew up a bomb because he wanted the government to eliminate regulations? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.49.58.218 (talkcontribs). Want an idiot. You obviously don't know your facts. Got a definition for terrorism? Nope don't agree with it. Why? 'Cause you can not give a good definition that actually covers all the acts that are called terrorism by various people. Can states commit terrorism? I think they can, has your definition included that? If they can, they invented "modern terrorism".

You want what capitalist committed terrorism? See the history of capitalism for countless examples, but they weren't against the government, they were against innocent individuals. The history of the railways in the US is a fine example of "capitalist terrorism", read up on it if you want. Prick.

POV

[edit]

Entries like this give Wikipedia a bad name. This was obviously written by a sophomore with a juvenile idealization of anarchy. It is biased, unresearched and, well, just plain uninformed. You should have deleted this immediately. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.92.253.89 (talkcontribs).

If you don't like it feel free to edit it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.49.223.200 (talkcontribs)

Kropotkin did not encourage so called "terrorism".

[edit]

I just deleted crap that needed citing, but 'cause it was untrue, it can't be cited. (Kropotkin said that such individual acts were not useful.)

So if people want to have people believe crap like this article (which is crap by the way), perhaps they should cite places? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.232.51.243 (talk) 00:35, 27 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

So I think this article is crap.

[edit]

Not only that, I think that it should be merged with propaganda of the deed, as having a separate section makes it seem as if anarchism is only about terrorism and thus ignores the vast history of anarchism (see other articles on Wikipedia).

I agree. This article is complete crap. Anarchism is def. not just about terrorism. CosmicWaffles
