Career

[edit]

Mackinder did not join the Civil Service upon leaving Oxford but became Director of the LSE.

Sentence 'During his climb of Mount Kenya, Halford ordered the shooting of' has been left incomplete and should probably be fixed because this is an important detail about his identity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Schipper Lisa (talkcontribs) 13:02, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it for now; if anybody wants to add it back in with the complete information, feel free. Sandtalon (talk) 00:20, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Books

[edit]

Are his books still under copyright? Drutt (talk) 19:35, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They might still be. It use to be 50 years after the death of the author, but that has been changed to 75 years, which has created grey areas. Best to treat it that they are until after 75 years from his death or his Estate may not be happy. --BSTemple (talk) 19:25, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

'Geopolitics' in lower case, please

[edit]

This is not a proper noun. It is the name of a discipline and so, like the names for the disciplines of economics, sociology, history, literature, chemistry, etc, should be in lower case except when other contexts (appearing as the first word of a sentence, etc) require upper case.
