Image change

[edit]

Re: Zoney's change of image... I much prefer a larger image with a bit of detail, but perhaps the original was too big. Perhaps a compromise? Seabhcan 00:14, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I do consider the original far too big (apart from the fact that Dublin is highlighted in it), and same size as text is ideal - but admittedly the green blob only just looked like Ireland. I hope this new version is more suitable? zoney talk 00:47, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Yip thats better. Seabhcan 11:40, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I propose changing the image from the shamrock to the harp, which is a more recognisable image to people of Ireland (on the coins and such). Since this is the first comment left in a year and a half, I don't really expect much response, but I'd like to see if there are any comments on the proposal before I change it. I figure I'll change it in a few days if there are no objections hoopydinkConas tá tú? 22:33, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harp

[edit]

Shamrock and Paddywhackery

I agree! Could articles relating to Ireland use the harp (as on Irish Euro coins and Irish passports etc.)? The shamrock has lost all of its original religious connotations and is now more associated with American "paddy whackery" and the consumption of large quantities of alcohol.--PeadarMaguidhir 08:21, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harp is probably a reasonable choice. However, the shamrock may be more suited to the tiny thumbnail image size. zoney talk 11:06, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
