references + empty sections

[edit]

I've added proper references to the page and also hidden the numerous empty sections. I don't see a point in including multiple headings and subheadings in the article without any content. sikander 16:36, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

results

[edit]

I have added results Oct and Nov. Please add categories. Spy1986 19:39, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huet?

[edit]

I'm not entirely sure what the criteria for leading goaltenders is, so I won't add him yet. But I will point out that Cristo-Wall has the best save percentage in the league right now Cheers, Dubbya9 02:10, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The stats are sorted by GAA, where Huet ranks 8th. Chances are he will crack the top 5 at some point. Resolute 04:46, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks man, just confused Cheers, Dubbya9 05:08, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Streit - First Modern Player To Play Both Defense & Offense?

[edit]

I wonder. Is the transition of Mark Streit from being a lifelong defensemen to being used as a winger in a featured, defined role in even-strenght and penalty-killing and as a defensemen in powerplays a notable trivia for the 2006-07 season? He is to my knowledge the first skill player to play on both sides of the puck on regular assignments. The man is no longer neither a defensemen nor is he really a forward. He's an hybrid, one of a kind.

7th defensemen have been dressed and played forward shifts in situations where a regular defenseman was returning from injury or playing poorly. But those were very limited shifts, not regular ones. Defensemen goons were sometimes dressed as 12th forwards in a very specific role where they would play their role but do nothing else, but I know of no case where a player played forward AND defense, switching back and forth depending of the game situation, and was a featured act doing so, earning a permanent roster spot pulling it off, and playing even-strenght, powerplay and penalty kill doing it. And becoming an highly valued tool in his coach's eyes.

The birth of a new "Utility" position in hockey? I think it might be. I think it's worth mentionning. Metrowrapper 06:14, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christoph Schubert has been playing forward and defense for the Senators for the past couple seasons. He'll play full games in both areas, and switch in-game as well. Bigdottawa 12:22, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2006-07 Team Articles

[edit]

I'm proud to tell everybody that we have gotten up the articles for 20 of the 30 teams. If anybody wishes to help complete the others, feel free to simply click on a team and fill in their article. This link will take you to the template for the teams to work on. Ksy92003 14:27, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As of now, they're all blue links on the template! Canadianshoper 18:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great! Jmlk17 22:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Playoffs

[edit]

Now is more than likely too soon, but when would be a good time to start adding playoff seeds (i.e., Buffalo currently holds the #1 in the East and would be listed as (1) Buffalo Sabres) megarockman uh..sometime after midnight on Feb 2.

I don't think seeds for the playoffs need to be listed until they are officially known. With how close the NHL standings are, it will just be something that gets edited every night when it could easily be added at the end of the season. Maybe add to the playoff section when a team qualifies, and then add the seedings at the very end of the season. Bigdottawa 09:35, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not like the standings don't get edited every night anyway. I and a couple others pretty much make sure of that. - megarockman a little after 5 PM on Feb 2.
can we at least have the dates of when the regular season begins and ends, and when the playoffs begin? 131.111.8.97 10:55, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't found when the playoffs start, but the season ends April 8th. megarockman a few minutes before 1 AM CST on Mar 10.
Add: Promo on today's Bruins-Red Wings game on NBC says playoffs start April 11th. megarockman a few minutes after 2 PM CDT on Mar 11.

Scoring Leaders

[edit]

I went ahead and added a rookie scoring leaders area, especially since the ROY award should be easier to give out on simple points alone by a forward due to lack of any truly stellar goalie. Jmlk17 16:19, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colors in 'Standings' table

[edit]

Don't you think that the colors are too bright? Maybe should make them pastel? Saosivert 07:05, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They look fine now I think. Jmlk17 22:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

William M. Jennings Trophy

[edit]

Should Josh Harding share in the William M. Jennings Trophy with Backstrom and Fernandez, or is it because he didn't play the low limit of 15 games? Jmlk17 06:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

25-games played is the minimal. Therefore, Harding doesn't qualify. GoodDay 17:08, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I thought...thanks. Jmlk17 21:15, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prose

[edit]

The events area has had that proseline tag up for quite some time now...should we convert it, or exactly what should be done with the section? Any ideas? Jmlk17 07:20, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff results

[edit]

It strikes me that listing the scores for each playoff game in this article is redundant given they are also being done at 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs IMO, for this article, the playoff bracket and some notes about significant events in the playoffs is sufficient. The detailed information should go into the playoff article. Would there be any opposition if I removed the scores altogether? Resolute 15:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No opposition here. GoodDay 18:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds reasonable--Brianvdb 21:23, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Jmlk17 23:25, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Has anyone noticed that this section is incorrect? The thrashers didn't make the playoffs like it says they did.--Whodagoalie (talk) 19:42, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Luongo

[edit]

Is there any reason why Luongo isn't in the leading goaltenders list? He had what, 47 wins, and is in the running for Vezina and MVP...I think he should be in the list, unless it is being kept to just five. I will do so unless I hear otherwise on here. Jmlk17 01:46, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sweet God, talk about a brain fart. I see it now! :). Jmlk17 03:40, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Top scorers/goaltenders list sorting

[edit]

Is it just me, or is having the sort function not useful in those two charts? I am not sure I see the value in adding the option to sort the top ten players by points any other way. Certantly there is no guarantee that the top ten players in points are all in the top ten in games played, goals, assists, etc. It creates an incorrect argument about who the top ten players in any given stat are. Resolute 04:43, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I could go either way in the argument. I like it on one hand, because you can easily see who played more/less game, had a better plus/minus, etc. So it's not on that end for the easy viewing. But it is sort of unnecessary from another perspective. I do agree with you, but I think there in no harm in having it on there personally. Jmlk17 04:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tie Breaking Procedure (team pts)

[edit]

The pts percentage tie breaker (team # games played), is a rare procedure. Every team plays the same number of NHL reg games (82), unless some rare occurance takes place. GoodDay 17:27, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debuts

[edit]

There were surely more debuts than just that (or is it only "successful" debuts?) Hobbit13 14:17, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Always plenty of debuts, but we try and keep it to notable players only. Jmlk17 12:08, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Top Infobox

[edit]

I'm concerned with the infobox of this article. It contains info about the 2007 playoffs, yet this article is about the 2006-07 regular season (only). GoodDay 22:04, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The title of the article says "NHL season", but "NHL regular season" though... Jmlk17 22:21, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? GoodDay 22:22, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think he meant to say it doesn't say regular season. bmitchelfTF 01:07, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, exactly, thank you. Been a long day! :) Jmlk17 09:46, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eastern Conference final standings are from 2005-06

[edit]

The Divisional Standings for the East are correct, but the Eastern Conference standings table has data from the 2005-06 season. Sorry, I'd fix it if I knew how or had the time to learn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.47.149 (talk) 12:34, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
