Elder Gods disambiguation page

[edit]

Aren't there many "Elder Gods" in fantasy literature? This should probably be a disambig page. --seav 11:51, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Indeed, as with the Elder Gods of Marvel Comics, for whom I'm preparing a Wikipedia entry. I agree a disambiguation page is needed. For now, I'll add a link in this page. Wilfredo Martinez 23:38, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional deity?

[edit]

I'm tweaking the first line. I don't believe that there's enough of a concrete encyclopedic distinction between fictional and ”factual“ deities to warrant inclusion of the former term in the introduction. samwaltz (talk) 18:47, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The concrete encyclopedic distinction is that "factual" deities are worshipped by large swathes of culture and serious logical arguments can, and have been, put forth asserting their actual existence. To put it shortly, people actually believe in or have believed in "factual" deities, while someone who believes in Cthulhu is analogous to someone who prays to Harry Potter. "Fictional" is also not entirely redundant in that, while no discrepancies have yet been noted between the like-named gods in each, the Cthulhu mythos may strongly diverge at some point from actual mythoi. I will not revert until concensus is reached for fear of starting an edit war, but please consider my points. 216.82.142.13 (talk) 22:14, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
