- Marcus was Jewish in ethnic sense, although he converted protestant after. He was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin which became later a part of the German Empire. He never became Austrian / Austro-Hungarian citizen. In a letter Marcus wrote to his brother he described himself "philosophical German", what ever it means. Anyway, Marcus should be categorised rather German than Austrian.

- The catalogue for the 1873 Vienna International Exhibition should assist in determining the validity of some claims. A 1907 source refers to it containing a picture of his 1873 vehicle. NealeFamily (talk) 02:24, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Ironically (or tragically, as you wish) most Americans think that the petrol-driven car was invented by a Nazi, named Henry Ford. NRPanikker (talk) 17:38, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
