Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Temporary semi-protection: IP account edit warring and re-adding questionable BLP content despite being advised to use the talk page to discuss. Given the the subject of the article is described as intersex, this might even fall under WP:CTOP and need 1RR at some point if the TSP doesn't work. In addition to the PP, the IP's diffs might need to be revdeleted per BLP. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:17, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Shnfox and/or 81.106.150.115 are censoring this page. They have removed information that is important to be featured in the main section of the article. He/she did it from a fan's point of view, perceiving this information as negative, using as argument that "This has never been proven or spoken about by either sannie or ann lee and is just gossip mongering." However, the added paragraph is no gossip, but information provided by authorised sources. There is no rule that states that information must be validated by the artists themselves. If the the artist had denied or confirmed this, that would, obviously, be included, but Carlson have not said anything. Although Ann Lee has not outright confirmed it either, her performances of the same song are worthy of remark. Therefore, Shnfox's reasoning for censoring is void.

There are three facts that I added to the article after reviewing the sources carefully. Firstly, Ann Lee's producer Mauro Farina literally said during an interview that "she lent her voice for Whigfield and it was a worldwide success." This interview is listed as source. Secondly, Carlson performed in Spain on February 2024 "Saturday Night" and her voice sounded completely different than the voice in the original recording. This performance was aired live on TV (Televisión Canaria) and is also listed as source. Thirdly, the live performances of "Saturday Night" by Ann Lee, also available, have a voice that is very similar to the one that is featured in Whigfield's recordings.

I request this article to be protected from the removal of this information (955), since articles should not be censored by fans that perceive some information as negative. In this case, the removal of information should be checked by experienced Wikipedia users or administrators, so the article remains objective and accurate and not just eulogistic, biased and fully controlled by a fan or artist. Reason: Several IP's (all from the same place) have been removing players from the squad section over and over again, without ever explaining their edits, even though these players are part of Dortmund's squad for the season (see the source above the squad list). I already requested protection before, the IP's had been blocked from editing after that, but now a fourth IP (again from the same location) popped up and kept removing these same players without further comment. Temporary semi-protection. There's been persistent edit warring on the plot section from an IP-hopper the past few months that has become especially pronounced in the past few days. Grandpallama (talk) 18:16, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 20:25, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Extreme and sustained vandalism. This has lasted over a period of at least six months. My last request to get this genus article and species articles of Neolithodes protected resulted in an account or two being blocked, but the same person has since been sockpuppeting incessantly over months and months trying to vandalize these articles only being reverted by myself and Mitch Ames. Neither blocks of these accounts nor temporary semi-protection can resolve this due to the user's persistence; indefinite is unfortunately the only way. Requesting this for right now on just 'Neolithodes', but may request it on various species of Neolithodes (and other lithodids, which they've also persistently vandalized) in the future. Also requesting that 143.44.169.184, Dl. DRJAJAL, and Michael 281818 be blocked as obvious sockpuppets of Michael2176. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 20:58, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Even after the initial protection period along with talk page consensus and the addition of a hatnote asking editors to not change the page to past-tense, people (mostly IP editors from my observation) are still changing the page tense to past despite there being no word at this time that the village will be disestablished and there being an intent to rebuild the town from my understanding, as well. Indefinite semi-protection: IP vandalized article’s short description. 2600:100C:B0AA:6CE6:83E:69D9:3ABA:8DF4 (talk) 22:05, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Three years ago, this page was extended-confirmed protected due to an edit war. I talked to the protecting admin and stated that there is zero chance for him to unprotect the article. Would consider downgrading the protection to semi. ScarletViolet tc 11:46, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikipedia Administrators, I am writing to respectfully request the unprotection of the article titled "Marehan." I understand that this page is currently protected to prevent vandalism, but I believe that unprotecting it, or at least reducing the level of protection, would allow for valuable contributions from knowledgeable editors like myself and others. I am particularly interested in making well-researched edits and updates to enhance the quality and accuracy of the information on this page. I am aware of Wikipedia's guidelines and policies and will ensure that my contributions comply with the platform's standards. Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to contributing to the improvement of this article.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
