Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Extended confirmed protection: Two reasons after Daniel Case had changed protection to auto confirmed: (1) WP:ARBEE due to Russo–Ukrainian War and (2) WP:ARBPIA under the scope of the 2023 Israel–Hamas War as evidenced here. 70.51.215.103 (talk) 03:19, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't put it on ECP since a) it's not directly relevant to the Israel-Hamas war, and b) while it undeniably touches on RUSUKR that is not the central focus of the article; it's considerably broader. Daniel Case (talk) 19:11, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Borgenland (talk) 10:49, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Bunch of IPs (possibly a single user but I am unsure) engaging in random content removal and edit warring. AntiDionysius (talk) 11:29, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Please protect for a month to minimise the disruptive editing at the article for the rest of the season (as per my previous request). 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:07, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent addition of original research by anonymous editor. Ken Gallager (talk) 12:11, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism. 2409:4073:200B:A8F6:293C:B4C8:B5CC:BCD4 (talk) 12:31, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. HurricaneEdgar 12:42, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: There is a lot of IP vandalism and the addition of awkward information Dushnilkin (talk) 12:59, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent adding either unsourced or poorly sourced material by sock hopping IP addresses. There are numerous IPs that have made edits and I'm certain one of them is the same person as they all come from Santa Cruz. In fact, a year ago I requested that page be protected because of a particular editor making similar edits.[1] Now it looks like that editor is making edits while logged out. Kcj5062 (talk) 13:57, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Never ending alteration of sourced info. HistoryofIran (talk) 14:13, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing and sockpuppetry – Blocked user MariaJaydHicky using multiple accounts for genre warring in the article. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 14:31, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level vandalism. Mehedi Abedin 15:10, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The article is being vandalized. A full cleanup is required

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Aintabli (talk) 15:41, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – After the protection expired recently, the vandalism (about the player club) is back. Alexcalamaro (talk) 16:42, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Disruptive editing - the same user who vandalised the page with my Care Bears fan shows in the past has been vandalising the page again after the six month protection expired. Refuses to listen even after I posted a talk page post. Luigitehplumber (talk) 17:41, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High risk of IP vandalism due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israel-Hamas war. MagyarNavy1918 (talk) 20:19, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is not clear to me that this is a CT article. Hillel International is not protected either. Ymblanter (talk) 20:25, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Currently a dispute over adding publisher parameters to citation templates. It is being discussed at my talk although other editors have continued to revert while the discussion is ongoing. Some protection may be in order. Trailblazer101 (talk) 20:30, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Continuous creation of topic sections that are unconstructive, poorly-written and forum-like. SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 20:35, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: I would like to request protection for this page due to ongoing issues with persistent vandalism. Multiple anonymous or unregistered users are frequently adding and removing information, much of which is unsourced and unreliable. Despite efforts to revert these changes, the disruptive edits continue to occur at a high frequency, undermining the page's reliability and integrity.

I believe that semi-protection would help prevent further disruptions and allow for constructive, cited contributions from established editors.

Thank you for your consideration. Krishnpremi (talk) 21:33, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

"On 1 April, seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including British, Polish, Australian, and Irish nationals, were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir al-Balah" is incorrect and should be reworded as

Not done – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. The article just got protected, but Talk:Anthony Hopkins isn't. Remember to include reliable sources for the demise of the feline. Even if they aren't covered by our policy regarding biographies of living persons, sources are required.      Done I've removed that empty section. If that's not what you had in mind, please read WP:ER for instructions on how to make an edit request. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:07, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
