Official website

[edit]

I just wanted to say that the official website for the city of Artesia listed on the Little India article is incorrect. It is [www.cityofartesia.us] The one listed is a subsection of the Gateway Cities website.

As for the question asked about people staring at you when you're shopping, that may be a result of one's own paranoia or inexperience around other cultures.

Thank you Anon. Update:
  • Correcting the city's official website
  • Removing an inappropriate question
have both now been done (though not by me).

I agree. I have several friends that are from European countries, Mexico, Cuba, and are Black, Brown, Yellow, and White, who all enjoy the fantastic finds while shopping in the spice shops and Indian shops along Pioneer Blvd. --- And, the concentration of Indian shops is within 4 or 5 city blocks along Pioneer. The rest of the city is like any other with a genuine mix of all kinds of people. It's a great place to live, and the city council and city manger are making great strides in improving the city. We have million dollar homes in Artesia, big name stores coming in, and in the past few years have really started to build some super-nice homes in the 400,000 to 800,000 price ranges. They are redeveloping blighted land and homeowners are fixing up their homes.

Artesia is a nice little town, I'm glad to be working for the city. And you are right (because I see these people all the time). The city manager, the mayor, the city council, and all staff are doing great things to improve the city.

Ice Skating Rink

[edit]

Perhaps someone should make a mention of Michelle Kwan's ice rink as a possible landmark in the city. Since, it too, can add to the tourism and overall popularity of the town.

(Comment made by multiple people) Artesia is more then just " little india ". no where in this article does it mention about the Portuguese hall. They have a BULLFIGHTING RING there. How many cities have a bullfighting ring? and how did they miss this when making this article? It's not only the Portuguese hall that got missed, there are plenty of other things that create artesia that were not included!! I don't find little india very inviting to those of us who are not of indian descent.

+++ i definitely agree, the portugese have strong traditions still in artesia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thrwooo (talkcontribs) 00:00, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
