Comments on my talk page

[edit]

Its really funny, we do get some very aggressive anti-Baha'i contributors on wikipedia. Fair enough to them, but it all tends to be very emotive. That particular comment was from (a complete guess here) a Bayani (modern Azali). Had to clean up a lot of vandalism from him. My favourite contribution from him was a link to a dicussion board between two Baha'is saying they should "vote with their money"... ie hold back contributions until the Universal House of Justice hears their pleas (I think they were unhappy about spending lots of money on the Arc, the Chillean House of worship etc). Its been rather calm for around a month now.

Oh well. Generally speaking, make your changes on wikipedia without seeking approval from talk pages - someone (normally myself, Rick, or Occammy) will have a gander at it and if theres a dispute we can use the talk pages to clarify.

Sorry about the photo of Baha'u'llah at the bottom of his page. Don't try reasoning that it needs removal though - we had a long fight to restrain it to at the bottom of only one article and that was only down to luck. -- Tomhab 15:45, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Another welcome message

[edit]

Hi. As you've been looking at Baha'i articles and their discussion pages, I guess you already know a little something about me from my past contributions. I'd noticed you'd being doing a thing or two - now I've finally got around to saying hello properly. Welcome to Wikipedia - hope you'll have fun around here. PaulHammond 07:34, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)

Baha'i page

[edit]

Ah well don't worry about it. I basically wanted to get a full revert with justification that any attempt to redo it will be considered vandalism. We'll see how it turns out anyway.

I'll leave it a bit and make a few changes. His addition of the Bayani bit (he's a returning Anon who I suspect of being one or at least a sympathiser - I think I mentioned him before to you) is pretty blatent plugging. We'll see what happens. As we're around 1000 times larger than the other sects, I don't think we need such a significant change. -- Tomhab 13:42, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Previously everything on wikipedia that refered to Baha'i was "Haifan" unless said otherwise. Now it changes the tone where we need to say exactly what Baha'i it is every time the word Baha'i is used. The template {{Bahá'í}} is entirely about the "Haifan" Baha'is and will thus need changing. Do we include Abdu'l-Baha and/or Shoghi Efendi as a central personage in the Baha'i faith as the "Baha'i family society" does not recognise them? It gets a lot more complicated. I'd rather just keep it as it was really.... Anyway todays busy for me so I can't really do much until tomorrow. -- Tomhab 15:08, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wherefore, O my loving friends! Consort with all the peoples, kindreds and religions of the world with the utmost truthfulness, uprightness, faithfulness, kindliness, good-will and friendliness, that all the world of being may be filled with the holy ecstasy of the grace of Baha, that ignorance, enmity, hate and rancor may vanish from the world and the darkness of estrangement amidst the peoples and kindreds of the world may give way to the Light of Unity. (Abdu'l-Baha, The Will and Testament, p. 14)

[edit]

In future, if you will propose my contributions for deletion, please make a more reasonable attempt to contact me, especially given that my wikipedia page is listed on my wikisource page, and my e-mail is registered in the system. (reference to the Baha'i texts from the Baha'i Library). All of the texts mentioned there, except for one, can be sourced from public domain sources. It's a small courtesy given the hours and hours that went into formatting them. Thank you. --Christian Edward Gruber 16:01, 9 June 2006 (UTC) (en.wikipedia.org talk page)[reply]

Please notice I did not propose your contributions for deletion. [1] I did speak up during the disscusion to say there were serious copuright concerns with these texts. And despite my best efforts at research into issue I could not find the definative answer that was needed. I truly spent a good amount of time looking into it. But I could not find out if these were published in the UK or US and who was responsible for the translations to English. Also the dates of publication I found were not clear if they refered to the original or English translation. I would love to have these texts on Wikisource but I am afraid they do not meet our stringent license requirements. I would be happy to temporaly restore them to give you a chance to save your formatting at anytime. I am sorry your hard work no longer is a part of the project, and that you were unware of that concerns were raised about it. Please let me know what I can do to help.--Birgitte§β ʈ Talk 16:23, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think your tone was simply frustrated and was not at all offended. I believe I have restored everything. Let me know if I missed something or else when you are done with it. I do not believe anyone would want these deleted if the copyright were worked out. I can always restore them again if that can be settled. A trick to finding the disscusion of a deleted article is this. Go to the page where article used to be and in the left margin there is a link called "What links here". If you click on that it gives a listing of all the places that page exists as a red link, including the archives of proposed deletions. Let me know if you need any other help.--Birgitte§β ʈ Talk 17:33, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bahai resources

[edit]

Hi,

If you can show me that the resources are in the public domain or under a GFDL compatible license, I will gladly restore them. But according to the Terms of Use where the texts were taken from, there were restrictions on usage which violated both WS and WMF (more importantly) copyright policy. Sorry you weren't notified about the deletion. Please contact me if we were mistaken about the copyright status/license of those works or if you'd like to save any of your effort put into those texts.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 23:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I see that you have had some trouble with license issues and baha'i materials. I am having the same problem with my spiritual identification. My mother is baha'i and I personally am part of a constituency of individuals known as the brights. If you feel images have been unfairly deleted or are improperly labeled "fair use" "copyrighted" or otherwise then please let me know and maybe we can do something about it. The Restorationism article is in terrible shape. Amongst its many problems is a complete lack of citations. Do you have any online resources that you feel might help in a cleanup of that article? I have thought of creating a WikiProject for South Park since it is now near its' 10th anniversary and has more articles than ever. I feel we could all do the following things through this project:

  • Improve the South Park main page

I have seen your South Park fan template and wondered if you were interested in joining. If so reply to my talk page and I'll get back to you as quick as I can. Thanks, Mr. Garrison

My use of three tilde instead of four is deliberate. Due to my Engrish, I frequently need to revise and correct my comments which make use of four tilde inappropriate. Once someone respond to my comment, I usually don't alter my comment. I'm sorry but use of ":" seems to be enough for most people to follow the flow of the debate. Vapour

Hi, I just have seen that you removed and edited alot of information on Ahmadiyya related pages and on Mirza Ghulam Ahmad artical. If you think that the section his claim, should be written in summary style then you should write the section Controversial death in summary style and link it with his Prophecies Page. This section look like full of POV statement given imprssion that because he was wrong so alot of his prophecies did not come true. We can not decide he was right or wrong, this is not our job. phippi46 11:19, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is good to see that you want to make these Articals more Enclypodiac and not POV statements. I have just seen another section in Ahmadiyyat Artical about the Prophecies of Ghulam Ahmad .. It is unfit and should be moved to either Mirza Ghulam Ahmad or to Prophecies artical. The Ahmadiyya artical is different and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Artical is different. Also I will like to see any suggestion from you to reduce POVs from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Artical. phippi46 11:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aikido style vs. organizations

[edit]

Howdy, could you explain the major benefit of having two categories related to Aikido styles / organizations? I don't see there being a big enough distinction to justify it. Feel free to reply here - I'll watch. Thanks! Mrand T-C 15:45, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, for one, Ki-Society and Ki-Aikido are two distinct things. They have different pages, and the page on Ki-Aikido isn't really an organization, but it's comparable - as a category - to the style practiced by Aikikai, Shin-Budo Kai, etc. It's not a huge thing, but a style and the organization that may primarily be organized around it are different. If there's a name for a category that is more ambiguous and does a good job of organizing both concepts together, then that's cool.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:JoelMarangella-1956.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JoelMarangella-1956.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:52, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muda (battle cry)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Muda (battle cry), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Muda (battle cry). B. If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

A tag has been placed on File:Haifa site future Baha'i House of Worship.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Kelly hi! 19:59, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Non-Bahá'í has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
